The Cystic Fibrosis Department of the Aghia Sophia Children’s Hospital organizes the 7th Cystic Fibrosis Workshop, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Golden Age Hotel, in Athens.
According to Ioanna Loukou, Pediatrician – Coordinating Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Department at Aghia Sophia Children’s Hospital, “This year’s conference is dedicated to the comprehensive approach to cystic fibrosis, combining timeless clinical concerns with modern developments that shape a new era in patient care.
Some of the topics that will be discussed include issues of daily clinical practice, such as emergencies in cystic fibrosis, the use of inhaled antibiotics, as well as less prominent but essential aspects, such as the coexistence of cystic fibrosis and short bowel syndrome and the role of sleep in patients’ quality of life.
At the same time, the conference highlights the transition of cystic fibrosis into the new era, with references to the position of the disease on the global map, future therapeutic perspectives and the extrapulmonary actions of CFTR modifiers, which underline the systemic nature of the disease.
The aim of the conference is to enhance scientific dialogue, promote the exchange of experience and support a holistic and modern approach to cystic fibrosis, focusing on the patient and their real needs.”
