On Friday 6 June 2025, the official presentation of the nationwide extension of the home delivery of medicines to all insured persons took place at the EOPYY premises in Pefki, in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health, the Administration of the Agency and representatives of patient associations.

The programme has been operating for 1 year as a pilot project , serving groups of patients with serious chronic diseases, namely Cystic Fibrosis, Pulmonary Hypertension, Thalassaemia (Mediterranean Anemia), Sickle Cell Anemia and Motor Neurone Disease.

“It is no coincidence that the programme was piloted with Cystic Fibrosis, as we need about 3-4 hours a day for life to do all our necessary treatments. The home-based medicine distribution program has changed our lives. It has given us tremendous relief to all patients, because we save precious time every day from travelling and waiting at EOPYY pharmacies,” said among others the President of the Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association, Anna Spinou, during her online greeting from the European Cystic Fibrosis Congress (ECFS 2025) in Milan. She also expressed her sincere thanks to the Director of EOPYY, Ms. Theano Karpodini, and all the staff of the Agency, who have always stood by the side of Cystic Fibrosis patients from the very first moment, with understanding and willingness to solve any problem they face.

At the same time, the new Board Member of the Association, Marilena Tsentidou, represented the Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association in person at the event, where she spoke with the institutional representatives.

During the event, it was announced that the extension of the programme will officially start on Monday 16 June 2025 and will be extended to all medicines and all insured persons, representing an important step towards improving the daily lives of the chronically ill.

Specifically:

  • Cold chain (refrigerated) medicines are also included in home delivery.
  • It is planned to extend the programme to paediatric patients soon.
  • The distribution of medicines is entrusted to the new transport company UNILOG, which is certified and specialised in the management and transport of medicines.
  • EOPYY will operate a helpdesk at pharmacies and distribution points, as well as a telephone helpdesk for patients.

Conference call with UNILOG
In the context of the expansion of the program, the Board of Directors of the Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association held a teleconference with representatives of UNILOG on Friday, May 30th. Από την πλευρά του Συλλόγου συμμετείχαν η Πρόεδρος Άννα Σπίνου, η Αντιπρόεδρος Κωνσταντίνα Γιαννάκη, η Αν. Ms. Despina Gini, Vice Treasurer, Ms. Despina Gini and Ms. An. Ms. Melina Tiglianidou.

During the teleconference, the representatives of the Association were informed in detail about the operation of the new system and made suggestions based on the experience of patients from the first year of operation of the programme, with the aim of improving the home delivery process. This meeting was an important step to ensure the smooth implementation of the new phase of the programme and to integrate patients’ needs.

We urge all patients who have any issues related to the supply of their medicines to continue to contact our Association. Your reports are essential to document our interventions and to continually improve our processes.
