Meeting with lung transplant team at Attikon General Hospital
Following the discussions that took place at the recent online Coffee Break of our Association members on 6/11/2025 and in the context of the stable institutional cooperation, meetings and discussions were held on the developments in the National Lung Transplantation Programme.
The President of the Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association Anna Spinou, the Vice President Konstantina Giannaki and the Deputy President of the Cystic Fibrosis Association Anna Spinou. Treasurer Despina Gini were informed about all the developments in the National Lung Transplantation Programme by the programme manager, Professor Hercules Tsagaris, and his team.
During the meetings, the following were discussed in detail:
- the follow-up and monitoring procedures for transplant recipients,
- the operating framework of the clinic,
- the existing infrastructure and the examination of whether there is a need for reinforcement,
- the axes for the future design of the programme
Contacts were also held with the staff, while subsequent meetings were planned with the Administration of the Attikon General Hospital, the Hellenic Lung Society and other institutional bodies.
The Association’s goal remains the unhindered access of all patients to lung transplantation and specialized post-transplantation follow-up through institutional cooperation and meaningful dialogue.


Establishment of a Lung Transplant Working Group
In response to the needs of transplant patients, the Association announces the establishment of the Lung Transplant Working Group, with the aim of:
- systematic recording of experiences and concerns,
- gathering patient suggestions as part of the ongoing development of the programme
- enhancing psychosocial support
- evidence-based processing of patient queries for institutional responses from the scientific community and institutions
The meetings will be held online under the supervision of the Board. The first meeting will be announced after the Cystic Fibrosis National Conference on November 30.
Transplant patients or caregivers who wish to participate will soon be able to register their interest through a special form. (to be announced soon)
Panhellenic Congress of Cystic Fibrosis – 30 November 2025
At the upcoming conference there will be a special session on lung transplantation, where all key issues will be discussed with experts.
We invite all members:
- to attend the conference in person or via live streaming,
- ask questions directly to the scientists,
- send anonymous or anonymous questions to info@cysticfibrosis.gr
The date of the first meeting of the Working Group will be announced after the conference.
