We stand by Despina and every person waiting for a second chance at life through transplantation. Because behind every name there is a person, a family and a struggle that is fought every day with dignity and hope.
Despina Gini, a Cystic Fibrosis patient and mother, is Rev. Treasurer of the Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association and a special person who volunteers for the Cystic Fibrosis community throughout Greece. She is not only fighting for her own life, but through her voluntary work in the Association as a Board Member she is a shining example of active participation and solidarity within the community, offering her contribution to the fight for Unlimited Breath for all patients, actively supporting the community and claiming better living conditions for all.

Cystic fibrosis and lung transplantation
Cystic fibrosis is the most common hereditary disease that affects many organs, especially the lungs and pancreas. The disease begins at birth and requires time-consuming daily treatments and a daily struggle for Unlimited Breath. Despite significant medical advances, for Cystic Fibrosis patients who reach end-stage respiratory failure, lung transplantation continues to be the only survival option.
However, in order for a transplant to take place, a graft must be found and this depends entirely on organ donation.
