Marking World Cystic Fibrosis Day on September 8, the Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association is dedicating the entire month to initiatives that highlight different aspects of life with the disease and the needs of the patient community.

The September campaign continues with practical support for patients and their daily needs.

For the second consecutive year, METLEN is supporting the Respiratory Equipment Donation Program of the Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association, making it possible to provide 75 respiratory devices throughout Greece.

60 personal spirometers and 15 nebulizers will be provided to children and adults with cystic fibrosis, as well as to patients who have undergone lung transplants.

For patients with cystic fibrosis, these devices are vital pieces of equipment that are absolutely essential for their daily care.

The personal spirometer allows for regular monitoring of lung function from home. It promotes self-management of the disease and helps with the early detection of potential changes that require further medical evaluation, while also reducing the need to travel to a hospital for regular monitoring.

The nebulizer is an essential piece of equipment for administering inhaled therapies. The program meets the needs of uninsured patients who do not have access to reimbursable equipment, as well as insured patients for whom reimbursable equipment may not be suitable for their therapeutic needs, such as infants and toddlers or patients who have undergone a lung transplant.

In the case of a chronic disease that requires daily, multifaceted, lifelong care, receiving these devices free of charge significantly relieves patients and their families of an additional financial burden.

This initiative is part of the Association’s ongoing effort to stand by the community through actions that address real, everyday needs, contributing to better care, more opportunities, and fewer limitations in patients’ daily lives.

The Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association extends its heartfelt thanks to METLEN for its steadfast support of the patient community for the second consecutive year, a contribution that tangibly helps improve the daily health care of patients throughout Greece.
