Our Association’s representatives Anna Spinou (President) and Maro Gounari (General Manager) represented patients with Cystic Fibrosis at the event “Onassis Health Day 2023 – Onassis Heart Surgery Center: 30 years of Innovation for People” and at the conference “Greek Solid Organ Transplantation Programs”.

 

The event “Onassis Health Day 2023 – Onassis Heart Surgery Center: 30 Years of Innovation for People”, was organized by the Onassis Heart Surgery Center, the Onassis Foundation and the Onassis Foundation Scholars Association at the Onassis Foundation’s Headquarters on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. At this third edition of the Onassis Health Day, health scientists discussed transplants and the plans for the next day with the arrival of the Onassis National Transplant Centre in 2024.
The “Greek Solid Organ Transplantation Programs” day was held on Friday 17 March 2023 at the Great Britain Hotel.

On the occasion of the award of the Ministry of Health to the three Solid Organ Transplantation Units, General Hospital Hippokratio, General Hospital Laiko and Onassis Cardiac Surgery Centre, the work of the Units was presented at the Workshop. At the same time, the issues concerning transplants were discussed in view of the Ministry of Health’s bill for the modernization of the law on organ donation and transplantation in our country. During the Workshop, the progress and challenges of the National Lung Transplantation Programme were also presented by the Head of the Lung Transplantation Programme, Mr. The course and progress of the National Lung Transplantation Program was presented by the Head of the Lung Transplantation Program, Mr. Hercules Tsagaris, with the Chairmanship of the Head of the Heart-Lung Transplantation & Mechanical Support of the Lung, Mr. Themistocles Hamogeorgakis and the Director of the Medical Service and Director of the Lung Anesthesia Department of the Lung Transplantation Program, Ms. Antoniou Theophanis. 

Our Association continues its actions and its cooperation with the official bodies of the Ministry of Health, the Hellenic Ministry of Health, the Hellenic Society of Pulmonary Fibrosis, the Onassis Foundation and the Associations of patients with pulmonary diseases, such as the Hellenic Pulmonary Fibrosis Association “Lungs of Life” and the Hellenic Community of Pulmonary Hypertension and the fight for Unlimited Breath for patients with Cystic Fibrosis, but also for every patient with pulmonary disease who is waiting for the second chance for life! Our goal is early and equal access to lung transplantation for all patients, and to ensure European standards of follow-up for our transplanted patients.
