We all become Organ Donors

Christmas is a time of love, giving and hope. They are the days when we think most about our fellow human beings and the power that a simple act can have in changing lives.

In Cystic Fibrosis, science has made huge strides forward. Innovative medicines have changed the face of the disease, offering many patients more years of life, a better quality of daily life and hope for the future.

However, despite progress, for some patients the disease still progresses. When respiratory failure reaches a terminal stage, lung transplantation remains the only life-saving option.

These days, our thoughts are with Despina Gini, a Cystic Fibrosis patient, mother and active member of the Board of Directors of the Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association.
Despina is fighting a difficult personal battle for her life and is waiting for a lung transplant to get a second chance at life. To return to her home, her child and her family.

But to do a transplant, you need a graft.
And for there to be transplants, organ donors are needed.

Organ donation is the highest act of giving, solidarity and love. It is an act that turns loss into hope and gives life to people who need it most.

This Christmas and New Year, let us all give the gift of life.
